PERFORMANCES: Every Summer for over 20 years

Our Summer Shakespeare performances includee timeless classics and modern reinventions based on the works of Shakespeare. CapoShakes performances are held both on the main Stage of the Camino Real Playhouse as well as in the beautifully green Historic Town Center Park in the heart of San Juan Capistrano.

  • Plays each Summer Under The Stars for over Two Decades

Performances for CapoShakes are both held on the main Stage of the Camino Real Playhouse as well as in the Historic Town Center Park. For "Under the Stars" Productions in the Park ... you are invited to bring folding chairs and a picnic to enjoy before and during the performances. By the way our "Prettiest Picnic" contest will indeed be returning next season for each outside performance and who knows what great prize you might just win. If you do forget your picnic we will be having some snacks and refreshments for sale at intermission or you can purchase some food to-go from one of San Juans' many fine restaurants before hand. Beverly loves food from The Cedar Creek Inn and Little Rose's favorites are found at Rubies Diner both only one block away from the Park. And if you also forget your folding chairs (or blanket) ... not a problem ... we have an ample supply of CapoShakes chairs available for a small additional rental fee for the night.

Shakespeare Under The Stars Became CapoShakes

Since 2002 the Camino Real Playhouse has help Shakespeare under the Stars in the outdoor stage in San Juan Capistrano's Historic Town Center Park, which just happens to be adjacent to the Camino Real Playhouse. It has been a great location and a wonderful venue to host Shakespeare Festivals. The outdoor amphitheatre was built and paid for by former Mayor Collene Campbell and her husband, the wood and stone structure was designed by Mike Imlay and is used for concerts and other events in addition to our annual Shakespeare under the Stars CapoShakes Festival.

Keep Shakespeare Alive in San Juan Capistrano

When advertisers buy space in our programs and corporations sponsor entire performances for our Summer Shakespeare Festival, they help to defray ongoing production costs to keep Shakespeare performances in San Juan Capistrano. In past years the income from mainstage productions has been used to fund the Shakespeare festivals. As costs have escalated for both the outdoor venue and the technology needed to perform our plays outdoors, budgets for Shakespeare have been extremely tight. Your generous Advertising and Sponsoring help is critical to enable the Playhouse to continue bringing the quality Shakespeare performances you have come to expect each Summer in San Juan Capistrano.

Call Tom Scott at 949-489-8082 today for details on how you can sponsor a single night of Shakespeare or an entire production. Advertising in our Shakespeare playbills also goes a long way towards helping us make our budget.

Thank you for doing your part and keeping Shakespeare alive in San Juan Capistrano and South Orange County.
