Reader’s Theater
is coming back! We hope that you will
welcome us back with open arms and enjoy our
inaugural season. Reader’s Theater is a
unique experience. The actors, well, read!
There is not a lot of movement, no pacing
around the stage to distract. The actors do
all the work using only their uniquely
individual instrument ... their voice. We
are planning on staging our readings at
different venues throughout the area
including the Camino Real Playhouse ... so
visit back for all the details soon. We are
also looking for directors. If you have
always wanted to try your hand at directing
and have theater experience as an actor,
writer or stage manager ... here is your
chance.
WHY READERS
THEATRE?
 First •
Readers Theater is a well-established form
of theatrical production being performed on commercial and community stage
across America. In Readers Theater the
lines are not memorized, but rather are read
from a script. It is more like radio drama,
for the absence of costumes, stage sets,
props, and actors movements allows the plot
to come alive in the audience's imagination.
Imagine ... a new playwright's work read on stage
with few props other than several chairs and
perhaps a spotlight.
The Camino Real Playhouse is excited to
bring you Readers Theatre in the near future
to giving you an opportunity
to "sample" new works by today's writers.
Second •
it enables us to offer an outlet
for new performers to "try their hand" at
acting.
Lastly •
it is great fun both for the
audience and the reader's theatre cast
members.
